Rochester, MN – The RT Autism Awareness Foundation will host its 4th Annual Mending Minds: "A Gala for Autism" at the Rochester International Event Center on Friday, January 24th, 2014. Everyone is invited to go “Back to the Gala” with Tom Wilson, who played "Biff Tannen" from the “Back to the Future” Trilogy headlining this year’s Gala. Tom Wilson has enjoyed a successful career as an actor, writer and comedian for over twenty years. He has more than fifty films, T.V. shows, and comedy specials to his credit, and has appeared on talk shows with everyone from Johnny Carson, Jay Leno and David Letterman, to Regis and Kathie Lee. He starred in the now classic “Back to the Future” film trilogy, and was seen in the family films “That Darn Cat,” “Born To Be Wild,” “Camp Nowhere,” and “Men In White,” as well as the Emmy award winning film about the civil war, “Andersonville.” Most recently, he’s been seen in the T.V. series “Sabrina, The Teenage Witch,” “Maggie,” “Fired Up,” “Nash Bridges,” “Titus,” and on the critically acclaimed “Freaks and Geeks.” He continues to act in movies and television, and he performs comedy and music across America.
National Comedian Bob Zany returns for his 4th appearance at the Gala with comedic partner Zan Aufderheide. There show can only be described as "George and Gracie" for the New Millennium. Also, back by popular demand, Performance Speed Painter TIM DECKER and you can check his website at http://www.timdecker.com/ for more info.
All entertainers are pledging their time and talents to help fight the nation’s fastest growing developmental disability, Autism, [which has no known cause or cure] by supporting the RT Autism Awareness Foundation. The RT (Reece Trahan) Autism Awareness Foundation is an organization devoted to making people aware of Autism and the effects it has on individuals and their families. The diagnosis of Autism is an emotional one for families, and the RT Autism Awareness Foundation wants people to know that they are not alone. It is the organization's desire and dedication to promote events for Autism Awareness so that present and future individuals, along with their families who face this battle will have strong support. Educate*Advocate*Awareness!
In May of 2003, Brad and Joan Trahan of Rochester, MN, founded the RT (Reece Trahan) Autism Awareness Foundation (RTAAF), a 501[c][3], soon after learning in January 2003 that their son Reece, then three, was diagnosed with severe autism. The Trahan family, along with the RTAAF Board of Directors, wants families with individuals who are diagnosed with autism to know that they are not alone and that we will make every effort to ensure that neither individuals nor families face this emotional battle alone. In the early stages of the Foundation, RTAAF established and maintained autism awareness throughout Southeastern Minnesota and the surrounding area. However, that was only the beginning. RTAAF is out spreading its reach, permitting it to touch lives beyond geographical boundaries. RTAAF will not allow geography to be an obstacle to the Foundation’s passion and goals. Through sponsored events and support groups, the RT Autism Awareness Foundation will carry on to assist those diagnosed with autism, and will demonstrate this assurance through its powerful words, professional actions, and relentless determination.
